Local Carpentry Help for Monticello
Monticello has some of the oldest homes we work on, and many people here want theirs brought up to date for how they live now while keeping what they love about the place. A home this age has usually settled, so Kevin builds to the room as it actually is rather than to a standard it never had, and the new work fits. Where you want to keep an original detail, we take the time to work with it rather than around it.
Monticello is the seat of Jefferson County, and the homes here are among the oldest anywhere we work. That age is why Kevin measures and builds to the real room, so an update fits and lasts.

Work we have finished

Kitchen in a new build pool house
Natural wood shaker doors against a dark navy wall, dark veined stone through the run and over the island, and new tile underfoot. The cabinet boxes carry all the way to the ceiling instead of stopping short and collecting dust.
Kitchen Renovations -
Island and wall ovens, same kitchen
The other half of the room. The island is built to sit square with the cabinet run, and the oven stack is framed into the tall cabinetry rather than dropped into a gap and trimmed around.
Kitchen Renovations -
A kitchen installed, cabinets to appliances
Kevin hung the cabinets and the crown on top of them, fitted every piece of hardware, set the island, and put in the faucet and the appliances. The cabinets came from a supplier rather than the shop, which is a job we take on as readily as building them. A run is only as straight as the person who hangs it. Counters are Fantasy Brown dolomite.

So happy to have found & worked with Lumber Lunatics. Kevin and his son did an exceptional job in replacing our outdated banister. It was hard to find the right person for the job but Kevin was great! Professional and attentive to detail as well as clean up. Thank you!

Lumber Lunatics did a great job repairing our cabinets. We had an upper cabinet that was pulling away from the wall and beginning to tilt, and I was worried it might eventually come down. They fixed the problem and did a very thorough job.

Monticello Carpentry Questions
Are the older Monticello homes different to work on?
A little, yes. A home this age has usually settled over the years, so the rooms are rarely perfectly square, and Kevin builds to the room as it actually is rather than to a standard it never had. Most people are updating the space for how they live now, and where you want to keep an original detail, we take the time to work with it. He measures before anything is cut.
Do you come out to Monticello?
Yes, regularly. Monticello is a straight run east of Tallahassee and well inside our normal range, so getting out here is rarely an issue.
Do you cover Monticello?
Yes. Monticello is inside our normal service area and Lumber Lunatics is insured on every project there.
Does the owner actually do the work?
Yes. Kevin is on every job. His son Lil Kevin works alongside him, and the person who prices your project is the person who builds it. There is no sales rep handing your job to a crew you have never met.
How big is your crew?
Three of us, and that is the whole company. Kevin and his son Lil Kevin are the two on site, and Amanda handles every call and inquiry. The two of them get through what a crew of four would.
