Custom Carpentry in Monticello, FL
One-off builds and the projects that do not fit a standard service list. If you are not sure, it is worth asking.
Custom Carpentry in a Monticello home that predates it
The custom work in Monticello's older homes is the piece with no standard size, a built-in for an odd corner, a bracket that has gone missing, or a piece shaped to a wall that is not quite straight. Some owners want a new piece that carries the home's original character, others want something plainer that simply works, and Kevin builds either to fit the spot exactly. None of it comes off a shelf, which is the whole point of building it on site.
Monticello is the seat of Jefferson County, and the homes here are among the oldest anywhere we work. That age is why Kevin measures and builds to the real room, so an update fits and lasts.
If it is made of wood and needs to fit a specific spot, it is worth asking. We build accent walls, floating shelves, mantels and handrails, and take on the projects someone else started and did not finish. After more than 30 years, there is very little Kevin has not built at some point.

Your Custom Carpentry Process in Monticello
On homes this age we measure everything before it is cut, because the walls are usually further out of square than in a newer home. Where you want an existing profile carried through, we can do that too.

Custom Carpentry in Monticello Questions
What if my project does not fit a standard service?
That is what custom carpentry is for. One-off builds, odd repairs, a piece built to fit a specific spot, the things that do not have their own page. After 30 years there is not much Kevin has not built, so ask.
Can you build from a photo or an idea rather than a plan?
Yes. Bring a photo or describe it the way you would to a neighbor. Kevin works out the how, and the questions he asks while he is looking at the space are what the estimate gets built from.
Are the older Monticello homes different to work on?
A little, yes. A home this age has usually settled over the years, so the rooms are rarely perfectly square, and Kevin builds to the room as it actually is rather than to a standard it never had. Most people are updating the space for how they live now, and where you want to keep an original detail, we take the time to work with it. He measures before anything is cut.
Do you come out to Monticello?
Yes, regularly. Monticello is a straight run east of Tallahassee and well inside our normal range, so getting out here is rarely an issue.
How fast can you get to Monticello for custom carpentry?
Most custom carpentry jobs in Monticello start the same way. Amanda comes back to you within 24 hours and books a time that suits you, and the detailed estimate follows once Kevin has seen it.
