Door installation and replacement, including barn doors and custom-fabricated doors.
Door Installation in a Monticello home that predates it
A door in one of Monticello's older homes is often not a size anyone stocks, because a home that has stood this long has settled until the opening is its own dimension. When you want to replace or update one, Kevin builds the door to fit the opening rather than forcing a stock door into it. That is the difference between a door that closes cleanly for years and one that starts sticking by the next summer.
Monticello is the seat of Jefferson County, and the homes here are among the oldest anywhere we work. That age is why Kevin measures and builds to the real room, so an update fits and lasts.
Doors are one of Kevin's specialties. We hang interior and exterior doors, replace entry doors that have swollen or rotted, build sliding barn doors, and fabricate one-off doors for closets and odd openings where nothing off the shelf will fit.

Your Door Installation Process in Monticello
On homes this age we measure everything before it is cut, because the walls are usually further out of square than in a newer home. Where you want an existing profile carried through, we can do that too.

Door Installation in Monticello Questions
My door sticks. Is that the door or the frame?
Usually the frame. In older homes the opening was rarely square to begin with, and settling plus Florida humidity swelling the door does the rest. Kevin works out whether it is the door, the frame or the hardware before quoting a fix.
Can you build a door to fit an odd opening?
Yes. When nothing off the shelf fits, Kevin fabricates the door to the opening rather than forcing a standard size in and trimming around the gaps. Hanging and building doors is one of his specialties.
Are the older Monticello homes different to work on?
A little, yes. A home this age has usually settled over the years, so the rooms are rarely perfectly square, and Kevin builds to the room as it actually is rather than to a standard it never had. Most people are updating the space for how they live now, and where you want to keep an original detail, we take the time to work with it. He measures before anything is cut.
Do you come out to Monticello?
Yes, regularly. Monticello is a straight run east of Tallahassee and well inside our normal range, so getting out here is rarely an issue.
How fast can you get to Monticello for door installation?
Most door installation jobs in Monticello start the same way. Amanda comes back to you within 24 hours and books a time that suits you, and the detailed estimate follows once Kevin has seen it.
