- something turns up once the work is underway
- you wonder whether it will pause
- whether anyone will ask you first
- and what it adds at the end

carpentry services
Carpentry-led room renovations, including cabinetry, trim, doors, drywall, flooring, painting and the finishing details.
A home renovation should improve the way your space looks, feels and functions. Whether you are updating a kitchen or bathroom, renovating a room or making improvements throughout your home, Lumber Lunatics brings skilled workmanship and more than 30 years of hands-on experience to every project.
Our renovation work can involve everything from removal of existing finishes and materials to repairs, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, doors, trim, painting and the finishing details that bring the space together. We handle both the carpentry and the surrounding renovation work, giving you one experienced team from start to finish.
Kevin personally evaluates and prices each project and remains hands-on throughout the work. As a small, owner-led business, we do not hand your project off to a rotating crew. You will know who is working in your home and who is responsible for the quality of the finished work.
Renovations can sometimes uncover conditions that could not be seen during the original estimate, such as hidden wood rot or other damage. If that happens, we will explain what we found, discuss the options and get your approval before any additional work moves forward. No unexpected work is simply added to your project without a conversation first.
Lumber Lunatics takes on renovation projects across Tallahassee and the surrounding Big Bend, from a single room to improvements throughout the home.
Free estimate, detailed and in writing before anything starts.
Send the form or call, whether it is a single room or improvements throughout the home. We get back to you within 24 hours.
Kevin prices it after he has seen the space and works with you on what it should become, then sends a detailed estimate.
Kevin is the one on site doing the work rather than handing it to a rotating crew. If the work uncovers something that could not be seen at the estimate, we stop and talk it through with you before anything else moves forward.
We go through the finishing details with you before we call the job done.
Every job is different. We offer free, no-obligation estimates so you know the price before any work starts.
Older homes turn up the most, but even a newer one can hide something nobody could see at the estimate. That possibility is written into our estimates and proposals, and you sign it before anything starts. So when something does come up, the work stops, Kevin walks you through it, and it becomes a change order you approve, rather than something you find out about afterwards.

The carpentry side of it, inside the home and out. Inside, that is cabinetry, trim, doors, built-ins, sheetrock and finish work. Outside, it is decks, fences and gates, pergolas, Hardie siding, exterior doors, railings and steps. Kevin does the woodwork himself. Plumbing and electrical go to a licensed plumber or electrician, and he tells you which parts those are before you plan around us.
