Tallahassee Carpentry Tips & Guides

Straight answers about the work: what it costs, what is worth doing yourself, and when it is time to call somebody.

Where to start, and where else to look

If you are planning a whole room, the kitchen and bathroom guides walk through the decisions in the order you actually have to make them, including which parts need a trade we are not. If you already know the job, the trim guide covers profiles and how to match one to the home you own, and the cabinet guide untangles the three different jobs people mean when they say cabinets.

All of them are written for homes here, which is not the same thing as a national guide. Florida humidity decides which materials are worth paying for and which ones fail early, and the gap between the 1920s homes in the historic districts and the newer builds out toward Killearn decides how much of any job is dealing with a room that is not square.

These are the questions Kevin gets asked standing in someone's kitchen, written down properly so you can read them before you call rather than after. There are not many of them yet, and we would rather post one worth reading than one a month.

For the quicker questions, the FAQ covers warranty, insurance, who turns up and what we do not touch. If you are trying to work out what something costs, pricing explains what actually moves a number on a carpentry job. And if you already know the job, the service pages go into what is involved in each one.
