Home Renovations in a Monticello home that predates it
Most Monticello renovations are about making an older home work the way you live now, the kitchen, the bath and the storage that were added a piece at a time over the years. Kevin plans the update around how you actually use the space, and because these homes have settled, he builds to the real room rather than to a standard size. Where you want to keep an original detail, he takes the time to work with it.
Monticello is the seat of Jefferson County, and the homes here are among the oldest anywhere we work. That age is why Kevin measures and builds to the real room, so an update fits and lasts.
Lumber Lunatics takes on renovation projects across Tallahassee and the surrounding Big Bend, from a single room to improvements throughout the home.

Home Renovations in Monticello Questions
What does a renovation with Lumber Lunatics cover?
The carpentry side of it, inside the home and out. Inside, that is cabinetry, trim, doors, built-ins, sheetrock and finish work. Outside, it is decks, fences and gates, pergolas, Hardie siding, exterior doors, railings and steps. Kevin does the woodwork himself. Plumbing and electrical go to a licensed plumber or electrician, and he tells you which parts those are before you plan around us.
Do you take on a whole room at once?
Yes, the carpentry and finish of it. Kevin prices it after he has seen the space, works with you on what it should become, and is the one on site doing the work rather than handing it to a rotating crew.
Are the older Monticello homes different to work on?
A little, yes. A home this age has usually settled over the years, so the rooms are rarely perfectly square, and Kevin builds to the room as it actually is rather than to a standard it never had. Most people are updating the space for how they live now, and where you want to keep an original detail, we take the time to work with it. He measures before anything is cut.
Do you come out to Monticello?
Yes, regularly. Monticello is a straight run east of Tallahassee and well inside our normal range, so getting out here is rarely an issue.
How fast can you get to Monticello for home renovations?
Most home renovations jobs in Monticello start the same way. Amanda comes back to you within 24 hours and books a time that suits you, and the detailed estimate follows once Kevin has seen it.
