What work like this generally runs, and why nobody can price a renovation honestly without walking it first. The estimate is free either way.
Our Pricing Philosophy
We do not price a job we have not seen
Kevin comes out and looks at the job with you. He does not price it while he is standing there, because materials have to be looked up and labor has to be worked out, so what you get afterwards is a detailed estimate rather than a figure off the top of his head. That is free, and there is no obligation on either side. We do not quote renovations over the phone either, because a price given without seeing the job is only ever a guess, and we would rather give you one we can stand behind.
What we do promise is that nothing changes without you. The possibility of unforeseen work is disclosed on our estimates and proposals, and you sign that before anything starts. If the job does change, and it sometimes does, the work stops, Kevin shows you what he found, and it becomes a change order you approve before it goes ahead.

Four things that move the number
These are the four things that move the number on any project, a kitchen, a deck or a repair, so you know what Kevin is looking at when he walks the job.
Scope of the job
Refacing cabinet doors is a different job from taking a kitchen back to the studs, and resurfacing a sound deck is different from tearing it out and rebuilding. Kevin walks it before he prices it.
Materials you choose
Treated or composite on a deck, paint grade or stain grade on trim, and the cabinetry material you choose. Species, grade and finish move the number more than anything else, so we lay out the options and what each one costs before anything is ordered.
Condition of what is already there
Older homes are rarely square and wood rot runs further than it looks, but even a newer one can turn up something once the work is underway. Most of the time nobody knows the full extent until then, which is exactly what the change order is for.

We serve about an hour around Tallahassee. If you are near the edge of that, just ask and we will let you know.
