Custom Carpentry in Havana, FL
One-off builds and the projects that do not fit a standard service list. If you are not sure, it is worth asking.
Custom Carpentry in Havana, keeping what is worth keeping
Havana has a long habit of finding new uses for old buildings, and that runs through its homes too, so the one-off work here is usually a piece fitted into a spot that was not built to a standard size, a cabinet, a bench, or a run of shelving shaped to the space. You can have it matched to the wood already in the room or built cleaner and more current, whichever you are going for. Kevin makes it to fit the spot exactly.
Havana sits about fifteen minutes north of Tallahassee, in Gadsden County, so it is an easy trip for us.
If it is made of wood and needs to fit a specific spot, it is worth asking. We build accent walls, floating shelves, mantels and handrails, and take on the projects someone else started and did not finish. After more than 30 years, there is very little Kevin has not built at some point.

Custom Carpentry in Havana Questions
What if my project does not fit a standard service?
That is what custom carpentry is for. One-off builds, odd repairs, a piece built to fit a specific spot, the things that do not have their own page. After 30 years there is not much Kevin has not built, so ask.
Can you build from a photo or an idea rather than a plan?
Yes. Bring a photo or describe it the way you would to a neighbor. Kevin works out the how, and the questions he asks while he is looking at the space are what the estimate gets built from.
Can this be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes, and we will tell you when it is the better choice. Repairing sound wood is usually less expensive than replacing it, so where a repair will do the job we say so, and where you would rather update it we do that instead. It comes down to what you want for the room and what is genuinely sound underneath.
Can you match new work to the existing style of an older home?
Yes. When working on an older home, we take the existing style, trim, dimensions, and details into consideration. When possible, we match or recreate those features so the new work blends naturally with the character of the home.
